Meet The Trainer – Stephanie Fosh

Introducing Stephanie Fosh, Managing Director and Senior HR Director

– Delivering training courses at Pure Human Resources

“I give lots of real life context to text book situations.”

What courses do you train and what do you think is the most important thing delegates will learn?

I deliver a range of courses including   HR for non-HR Managers,  Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Recruitment and Selection Skills.

I also work with clients to create and deliver bespoke courses.

What makes you an expert in the topic?

I am a bit of an employment law geek……and have been exposed to some really unusual cases over the years. I did my Advanced Certificate in Employment Law in 2012 and have been designing and delivering training for even longer! The team know that I plan to write a book when I retire….with each chapter being a weird and wonderful employment situation that I have come across with clients. There are not many work scenarios that have gone wrong, that I haven’t come across.

What’s your training style?

I am very passionate about the subject matter that I deliver and so my courses are very engaging. You will find I give lots of real life context to text book situations!

Is there anything that surprises people about the course content you train?

There are lots of ‘urban myths’ when it comes to the way employers can manage their employees.

What do you think are the benefits of face-to-face learning (vs. online learning)?

As a trainer, you can really tell whether people are actively engaged with you and hence ensuring they are getting value for money with the learning being achieved. Practical exercises are great for checking and reinforcing learning and these are really difficult to build into online learning.

Do you have a favourite industry or subject blog/ book/ publication/ podcast you read/ follow?

Is this where I admit I like reading updates on latest employment law cases…

If you could become an expert in anything other than HR what would it be?

I always want to go into the police. I do spend time in my role investigating matters for clients and when I was younger loved the idea of joining CID.

Any other info about you that you’d like to share that you think is relevant?:

I joined Mensa when I was 19…
